By 2005, Perry had made a foothold in the theater industry. Each of his national tours can reach hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue. But that is only the beginning. Perry's genius point is that he has pulled the same audience into movie theaters.
Initially, Perry produced a DVD that recorded his plays and sold 11 million copies. He then officially adapted the play into a movie, starting with Diary of a mad black woman in 2005. Madea officially appeared on the big screen and attracted a huge audience to the cinema.
