Due to the loss of about 1/3 of body weight after hibernation, bears often do not crave when waking up because the body's metabolic system has not returned to its previous function.
A special feature when hibernating bears are a few females can give birth at this time. Mother bears are likely to awaken for a few moments when the cubs cry, then resume sleep.
