"In Case You Didn't Know" was included on Brett Young's debut self-titled EP and debut self-titled album. The song was released as the second single from the EP on the 9th of January 2017.
Brett Young explained to TheBoot magazine how he wrote this song with Trent Tomlinson, Kyle Schlienger, and Tyler Reeve, "...we wanted to keep it really down the middle and basic, because it ended up being a love story that we wrote, and we wanted everybody to be able to make it their love story, so we just kept it really simple and said what we would like to say the person that we love, or we would like to hear back from the person that we love."
